But "it" is so dehumanizing... I personally don't see the problem with using "he" or "she" according to how the girlfriend in this scenario identifies at any point in time

I know right? How I understand it is that "they" refers to the girlfriend. A way to avoid choosing btw "he" and "she" pronouns I guess..?

Remember children you can't be sad unless you're the sad-est 12 comments

People should be able to feel how they feel, and not have to apologize for it. But to be fair, a lot of the time, people only bring up the whole "others have it worse than you" thing to bring a little perspective. It's not so much about stopping you from being sad, but more about giving you a sense of comfort knowing that you still have so much to be grateful for despite your current problem.

I agree it is awkward.. But that's kinda what we've come to in this technological age isn't it? Getting to know each other on Facebook, tinder, online profiles.. I mean even potential employers find out about you through LinkedIn or whatever else.. Though I don't agree with this behaviour, we all know it happens. This guy was just more upfront about it than most people are

Kudos to the girl for being so straightforward and not leaving the guy on the hook. Now they can both move on with their lives

I'd actually love to try this.. getting to know people based on personality alone, with looks not even factoring into the equation. It may just turn out some of the best relationships..
Plus I'd feel so much less self-conscious in the whole dating scene!

Or how about the Hermione/Bellatrix in Gringotts scene?
That was Helena Bonham Carter pretending to be Emma Watson, pretending to be Helena Bonham Carter, pretending to be Hermione, pretending to be Bellatrix.
