You make some really good points, and I think the point of our difference is our definition of "demisexual." As someone on the asexual spectrum myself (read: I'm ace/aro) demisexuals usually define themselves as people who experience no sexual attraction UNTIL they get to know someone really well, and ONLY then. I'm not saying everyone who says they're demi is using the terms correctly, but I think that's where our difference lies

The labels have one purpose: to connect people. I agree that over-labeling can be harmful, such as in cases of over-diagnosing, etc., but when it comes to sexuality and romantic orientation, the labels serve to connect homoromantic demisexuals with other homoromantic demisexuals (or whatever you are) usually through an online community and usually for the purpose of dating.

When I was a kid, I liked getting the trophies because they looked cool, but even as I child I saw that everyone got one and knew that wasn't how it was supposed to be. I can't speak for other people's experiences, but my ego never got inflated over a gold painted piece of plastic

Plus how do they know this woman isn't in the middle of losing weight? It's completely possible that she used to weigh 400 lbs and now only weighs 250 bc of diet and exercise. Fat people don't just exercise once and then suddenly have a normal BMI *eyeroll*
