So sorry to hear that nerdsarecool, I will tell you from personal experience, the passing of a pet will burn into your soul for life. After some of the pain fades, you will remember good times, later that become the bigger part of your memories. It's the reason I became vegetarian. I think we could have that connection with almost any animal if given the opportunity. You saved the dog's life once, sadly you can't always do that more than the one time.
