Just adding to your "they're a person, not an object" comment, songofthewhitestag. In the English language, by saying "they" you are also objectifying the person. EX: "Where are your keys, mom?" "THEY are over there." "It" can be used the same way "they" can be used. And if a person identifies as neither male nor female, as you say some people you know do, what are we supposed to say? It's awkward not knowing what to say when someone doesn't know what they want to be identified as. "IT" is a safe word for those of us who don't deal with people who identify as neither sex. Maybe they should open their mouths and just tell people that they want to be called "he" or "she" instead of quietly being offended by it. That helps more than anything you or I can talk about on the internet

I don't think it's a big deal either way. People would have issues if I called whatever gender this person is a "she-male," too but that's life. People will be offended either way and there's no point in getting upset over it. @song, although not everything you post has an agenda to it, you do come off as preachy in about everything I notice you posting. Is it really that big of an issue?

Agreed, but why should we compare ourselves to characters who are written to be strong emotionally, or written to grow strong when people around us don't have those abilities?

Hate to point this out, but fictional characters have no feelings so they don't hurt like humans do.

Still bad considering I have literally never lived a place that was under 75 degrees and dropped below that maybe ten days a year
