There was an episode of Night Gallery (1970s Rod Serling follow-up to Twilight Zone) where he played a hippy that got killed, and thought he was going to Hell and it was gonna be so cool with torture and flames and whips. But he was stuck in a room with a few people who were all square, uncool, and boring. I think you can foresee the "twist ending."

Huh. I guess they don't have any little kids such that she can officially be the Au Pair as a reason to be in the household.

I guess that what you do is to congratulate your friends, because you're happy for them in that they're doing something that they want and like. IOW, sharing their joy.
This sourpuss seems to be railing against congratulating strangers on their having kids. I suppose that's understandable, but who's telling you to congratulate people you don't know? Strangers online?
But, given that's from the r/childfree sub, the poster is probably just a crank.

Possibilities for the metal box fixing RADAR device:
=Bad ground in setup, which gets fixed with metal box grounding thing that needs it
-Metal box shields sensitive circuit from spurious electromagnetic interference generated from RADAR circuit
-Actual magic

How many "young 'uns" hear that and think "Maybe I should consider the greater wisdom and worldly experience that my parents have," vs. "They're keeping me from having fun and doing what I want! My parents are RUINING MY LIFE!!"

We're worried about livestock's contribution to climate change, meanwhile China is burning so much coal that they exceed the rest of the world combined in emissions. The smog is so bad that in scenic areas where people used to take a touristy photo with something memorable in the background, they have a giant picture of the old scenic background because you can't see through the pollution any more.

Might also have talked to some guys who had been in tanks. I mean, it'd be good research, right?

During the Spanish American War (~1898), the US government added a "temporary" tax on these newfangled telephone things that only rich folks had. It was just to fund that war effort. After the war, it grew into a tax on "communications services."
I had thought it was finally repealed 15 years ago, but in looking up the details to avoid providing bad info, I found that:
"On January 25, 2011, Rep. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) introduced H.R. 428, a bill "To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the excise tax on telephone and other communications services"; it was referred to the House Ways and Means Committee,[33] but was not enacted."

I think that frog's point was that even if you don't see wrongly because your eyes played a trick, the url *still* implies something that they didn't intend.

We can't even get "everyone to just" do the rock bottom basics, like not steal from stores...shoot, we can't even get "everyone to just" agree that it's wrong to steal non-necessities and that it should result in arrest/prosecution.

My experience observing the generation older than I am and the generation younger is that "the grandkids" don't want 90% of those "treasures." Even a really nice, solid, beautiful cabinet like the one shown is too heavy and too big.

-The government is terrible
-Let's give the government more control and be the sole provider of more things.

Amazing progress. Your blood pressure is probably much better, as is your A1C. There are things that start occurring in your 50s that will be MUCH better because of the improvements you're making today. Keep it up.

I can just imagine the letter that the Aquarium got:
"Now, I'm not writing to you because *I'M* offended, but I'm just thinking about the feelings of OTHER people who might find that language offensive..."
"Now, I'm not writing to you because *I'M* offended, but I'm just thinking about the feelings of OTHER people who might find that language offensive..."
I always answered "I'd still like to be doing what I'm doing--designing products--but with more challenges and responsibility if my experience and results warrant it." It was clear that I DIDN'T want to be on a management track, but DID want to be the "Go To Guy" for stuff that was tricky to accomplish. But nobody knows unless you tell 'em.
