It contains gum because that was the day you talked to your crush. You were sitting at class and they sit next to you as always but you can never get the guts to talk to them. A bit after the class has started they lean over and say that they really want a peace of gum. They ask you if you have one. This simple interaction gives you the courage to start up a conversation with them. You then go on to stop crushing on them but actually becoming friends. This new friend, years later, manages to be the one person to help save your life. None of this would have happened if you had no gum.
