And today the shark cull that was in Australia, that literally every Aussie except for the politicians protested against, was banned! Thank goodness for that, you just keep swimming, mr shark!

Okay, if you want another lovely example, because apparently you've decided that kangaroos have nothing to do with the argument, then look at orca. They will 'play hunt' in which they toss the seal around, keep catching it while it tries to get away, and do this for an extended period of time. They don't even necessarily eat it. Humans aren't the only animals that hunt for fun.
Your point on stoning people to death is not valid. That was a tradition in some cultures, other cultures didn't do that they might do something else. But in every single culture, there were hunters. Without hunting, we would not be alive.
Eating meat is necessary. Vegans have to eat supplements that allows them to continue their 'vegan' existence. Talk about natural, eating something from a lab that depends on a tonne of technology, instead of going out, hunting for your own food or farming for your own food. Hunters and farmers know more about the environment and the way of animals than vegans ever will.

I know enough about the storyline from what people have told me and what reports I have read to know that I don't want to waste my time on something like that.

Actually I think you'll find there's a big protest movement against 50 Shades of Grey because of the nature and themes of the book. I find it disgusting, have refused to read it/support it in any way, and know a lot of people who have read it and found it disturbing. All women.

Animals absolutely hunt for fun, lindsmolinari! Let's not pretend that animals are saints of the environment just because they're animals. Animals can do some absolutely horrible things, example of female kangaroos who will push their babies out of the pouch if they're being hunted so it will get eaten and not them. Hunting is an ancient tradition, eating meat is a necessary thing, and the fact that some people feel the urge to hunt is proof enough that we are part of the animal kingdom, and it's a natural thing to do. Just be happy that most people hunt with conservation in mind, and humane treatment in mind, and persecute the poachers, not people who are hunting lawfully, as is most definitely their right as a human being.

To expand on your point nande, lots of farmers and hunter only hunt pest animals (foxes, pigs, wild dogs) and you can bet anything the meat will either be going to the farmer or to his dogs, so it's not like it goes to waste.

Well, considering that I'm only fourth generation Australian, and my heritage is Irish I would find that highly unlikely. As someone who has a great interest in Australian history, I would love to educate you on the subject (such as the post suggests). Yes, 'white' people did come over, and their diseases did, unintentionally, cause harm to the First Peoples, which is a real shame. However, Australia was not set up as a 'whore house' and 'gambling den' sort of place, it was in fact a prison for convicts, due to the overflow of prisoners. Lots of practices were harsh towards the Aboriginals, which is why today they are granted permission to land, and their sacred sites are protected. I'm very happy to have been given the opportunity to educate you on this subject which you are so obviously not well versed in.

For someone who thinks that people shouldn't generalise and insult, looks like you're doing a brilliant job of it! Personally I think the dumbing-down of society can be attributed to people who aren't able to take being told 'no', or can't cop criticism. Sort of like you, then.

Well said, just cause we're not afraid to get some mud and crap splashed on us, doesn't mean we don't know how to wash it off too! And many country girls from Australia have formal training behind them. More down to earth than city-slickers who think just because they've seen a video from Peta they know all about the industry.

Bottom right doesn't really look like much of a country girl either, unless all she does is work with horses and no cattle/sheep/crops.

I agree to some extent, but the point is that if you get offended by someones view, well hey now you need to debate it, rethink it, decide if you can put your money where your mouth is. We are never going to get rid of all sexism, all racism, someone will always be offended over something. So the point is, you may as well learn how to debate now so that you can change peoples viewpoint, rather than going to angry straight away!
