You could also mix baking soda with cream of tartar (tartaric acid) or powdered citric acid. Then you only need to add water.

In that case they should have designed their brick cutter so that it doesn't produce two wasted half-bricks every alternate row. I can't think of a design that wouldn't produce more waste than that but surely someone could. Or perhaps the partial bricks can be ground up and the material used again. (Yes, I just spent 10 minutes thinking about brick-making.)

So... it was rendered differently for the Blu-Ray version. That has nothing to do with the resolution, or even the bit-rate.
