Good pun. But I'm honestly more impressed that you took the time to find the o with the diaeresis (this thing ӧ).

Good point, deviledapple. Come to think of it... a lot of that smog is due to non-solids that the vacuum cleaner wouldn't have retained anyway unless you used a chemical adsorbent. At which point we're back to "making a cake from eggs".
But is there beer in the fridge? 4 comments

I think the most impressive part is that they're all looking the same way. Thoughts on what could entice all of these different species to look the same way?

Newly hatched mantises 4 comments

One summer I ordered 6 mantis egg cases online and hatched them in a terrarium. I guess I didn't have enough fruit flies for them because all but 3 of them ate each other and survived long enough to molt once, and then the largest of those 3 ate the other two. And that's the one I had as a pet, until the end of the season when I released it so it would have a chance to breed. I named it H.G. Wells because they look like they could be aliens. It used to sit on my shoulder and watch TV with me.

I just learned something: "On very rare occasions, when their usual food sources are scarce, eastern gray squirrels also prey upon insects, frogs, small rodents including other squirrels, and small birds, their eggs, and young."

Carbon Fiber knife 10 comments

What most people don't realize about "carbon fiber" is that what they are actually talking about is a "carbon fiber composite material". Carbon fiber on it's own is more like cloth (in fact it starts out as cloth, which is then pyrolyzed ie. heated in a chamber with no oxygen). The stiff carbon fiber composite most people are thinking of is impregnated with an epoxy resin, this confers strength by the carbon fiber reinforcing the resin, and by the resin keeping the fibers from rubbing together and breaking. All this to say that, at the edge of that knife you basically have only epoxy (brittle resin with only traces of carbon fiber), it will NOT hold an edge... it will go dull after the first use.

NO I am NOT ok! That is enraging! ALL diametric lines (and therefore cuts) are degenerate.
