I have a time machine at home. It only goes forward at regular speed. It's basically just a box with the words "time machine" written on it in sharpie.

True, unless it's a really low mass black hole.

At least until the black hole evaporates via Hawking radiation.

They have a volume in the sense that the event horizon has a diameter. We're not sure that an actual singularity can exist, because the volume within the event horiron is unobservable, it's effectively outside our universe.

A black hole need not have infinite density. All you need is for a given mass to occupy a volume smaller than its Schwarzchild radius (at least in the case of a non-rotating uncharged black hole). In fact supermassive black holes, such as those found in the centers of galaxies can have densities lower than that of water.

An interesting representation of how space-time curves due to mass 2 comments
jimcrichton · 8 years ago
This is exactly how I always pictured it. Except this is only a projection into three dimension, the actual curvature is four-dimensional.

Taxonomically speaking, all modern birds are not just descended from dinosaurs, they ARE dinosaurs.

I'm ok through trig and Calc 1 through 3, right up until differential equations... then I sort of lose it.

Have you ever seen a baby octopus? 5 comments

Yes, in fact I've eaten whole baby octopi. I didn't much care for them, and the novelty wore off quickly.
