yeah a grain of sand has about 2.2 x 10^19 atoms, whereas the universe has about 3 x 10^22 stars, so not a huge difference but still not quite true… still incredibly mind-blowing!!

Unfortunately, the fact is not quite true… theoretically, yeah, but you'd only be receiving one or two photons that had actually bounced off Earth if you're at such a distance…
But fortunately, there is literally an entire field of science called astrobiology which is dedicated to finding the truth in scenarios like yours!!

Sirius is actually a binary star system, and is part of the constellation Canis Major. This is why the system is also called the "Dog Star" and Rowling, being so damn incredible at giving things names, named Padfoot after the system because of it's nickname
