I applaud your decision. I call in child abuse all the time (for my job) and always feel doubt until the case is settled. Please know that in the long run you did the right thing

That child is young and does not understand the needs of anyone but himself. He saw the cat, wanted it to join him, and pulled it in the tub. Smacking that child would teach him nothing but to fear you.
