For centuries police have defected and joined the people. In the French Revolution the national guard joined the people and trained them, in the Russian revolution the police disregarded their superiors and joined the people. The issue that needs to be addressed now is the ideological gap between the police and the people. If the police followed their ethical beliefs in these situations such as the image above then they would not stand there and hurt the very people they are meant to protect. Obviously there is the argument that they are just doing their job, but when does their job become the blatant brutality and arbitrary arrest of innocents. The situation now in Ferguson, is the exact example of the police abusing their power.

It would be ignorant to disregard the bravey of some people in the police service. Any entity in society has its moral compass of good and bad, including police.

The guests comment didn't refer to them as police and I was merely responding. Police brutality wouldn't occur if they didn't have the backing of powerful politicans who want to quell any uprisings.

The government refers to the executive which means it isn't about the police service.

Yes they have families who are stuffed with money, they chose to become politicians. If they were doing "their work" then there wouldn't be all the deficiencies in society that exist. Trust me, they don't have it just as hard as average citizens when their pockets are lined with money, from large corporations and industries.

Firstly, not everybody comes from privellige and get the petty things rich people take for granted. Secondly, an enviroment in which a child grows up in determines who they are; society shapes us. I think it is ignorant of people to think that everyone on welfare wants to be on welfare. Clearly the issues that need to be addressed in America and other comparable democracies is the culture of stereotyping people on welfare and undermining them as animals. Another issue that clearly needs addressing is the fundamental reason why so many people are on welfare, why your country gives more money to rich white politicans than poor men women and children. Why your government isn't doing more by building institutions that assist underprivileged people in getting out of these situations. Americans can talk a lot about equal opportunity but it doesn't exist. The generational unemployed and illiterate are so because they haven't been given ample education nor oppurtunities.

It was built on a war of indipendence from Britian by rich white men for financial reasons. Your freedom came from the belief that "all men are equal" oh wait except women and slaves.

Honestly all i got from that comment is "I'm going to write out a really long French statement to show off I speak French, even thought me saying it in French in no way contributes to the story."

Implying that if such case was to occur it would be minor, compared to women who have been trampled on and disenfranchised by their society and poltical systems.

The real problem everyone is missing is that women are forced through their socioeconomic status to exploit themselves in order to make ends meet. The real issue is not whether prostitution should be allowed or not but what governments are doing for women who have no other choice but to allow men to violate them. You can't compare abortion to prostitution they aren't the same thing

If it makes me happy then I will. That's a stereotypical view that society thinks up for you to believe, being happy doesn't mean being high and having no home. Seriously.

I think the real issue here is that we live in a society that dictates how our futures should be. The dominant value in our society now is that you study, work, study more until you get a job in your desired field, pay taxes and raise a family. We have no individualistic expectations rather we stick to what we perceive as success. Therefore as a 17 turning 18 year old student, I'm just discovering that happiness should be more dominant as a value than money and work. We are not taught how to take care of our souls, so why would we force children to think about there futures?
