I did the same thing when my niece asked me how children and animals die in a hot car. Took her less than 3 minutes to give me that 'Oh, I understand now" look.

I'm my dog's favorite person and that's a great feeling.

I would retired earlier and travel. That's it.

Here's another reason: Will you be able to afford rent when you retire? That was one of the main reasons I purchased my home. My mortgage; taxes and insurance included is so much less than the rents in my area and I live in California. Another reason is that if I ever (hopefully not) have to go into a care home, I would sell my home to pay for the cost. Also, don't try to keep up with the Jones. Buy what you can afford and still be able to take a vacation or 2 a year; even if it's just a staycation. Don't allow the house to own you.

It's called a vacuum and yes, I take my Zoe everywhere that I can as long as it doesn't upset anyone. The world doesn't evolve around me nor my dog; I need to understand there are folks that don't like dogs, are afraid of them or allergic so I don't take her where dogs don't belong.
