I'd immediately mark the territory as mine with urine. Then feces. Then blood. A lot of blood.

I don't know about that. Man, woman, or child, running at me with a machete, naked or not, screaming "it's fun time," is gonna scare the piss outta me.

Being neighbors doesn’t make you friends 7 comments

@strongsad. I agree. We just got 18" of snow and were out shoveling (again) when a guy with a plow on his truck pulled up, gestured for us to move, and plowed the whole thing. He said " welcome to the neighborhood," and drove off. The hero we need.

When did they get such a stigma 7 comments

It's different when you are a dad. You can carry essential things you "might need one day" and "just in case": snacks, drinks, a tape measure, nails that you can save because they aren't bent too bad, cords for appliances you no longer have, the free Allen wrenches that come with new furniture, batteries that might still be good, condiment packets, old remotes, zip ties, computer and car parts, odd cuts of wood, old shoes, etc. Just an FYI for Father's day, now some specialty stores sell cargo shorts with these things aready included.

I bow to your greater medical knowledge, but I can speak to the psychological aspect a little bit ( I'm a psychologist). Schachter did a study back in the '60s where he gave folks ephinephrine (some knew the effects, some didnt-unethical now). Those who didn't attributed the effects they felt (racing heart etc) to the context around them, e.g. either excited or happy. This shows we have the physical feeling and then attribute it to an emotion based on context. Emotions are centered largely in the limbic system and give us information about our environment, so one can't feel "wrong." They are part of our survival instinct. Our minds and body are inseparable. Furthermore, we can experience emotions physically without actually recognizing the pain as emotionally based. Extreme cases can lead to paralysis, seizures, etc. that have no physical cause, i.e. conversion disorder. Feelings are, real, valid, and can hurt. You can't just "snap out of it " anymore than walking off broken leg.

A good boy. We also have a good boy who survived cancer. I would post a picture, but I don't think anyone wants to see a now cancer free pug penis. He was brave through it all, I'd say it took balls, but those were taken by another vet long ago.

We literally live 10 minutes away, and before reading the comments, I showed this to my seven year old, who agreed to read. So If the others fall through, we are there. (Even though she asked if Sting was part anteater)

@sir_spiderman Attraction to children is not a sexual orientation. It is classified as a paraphillia. Not diagnosable until distress is present or it is acted upon, but not a sexuality. The following is a diagnosable mental disorder:
F65.4 pedophilic disorder
A. An individual who has had arousing fantasies about, urges for, or behaviors with a prepubescent child or children.
B. The individual has acted out these sexual desires, or is experiencing significant distress or difficulty as a result of these desires.
C. The Individual is 16 years of age, and at least five years older than the child or children noted in Criterion A. (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
This is in no way excusing pedophillia because it is a disorder, any more than alcohol use disorder excuses someone who kills another while driving drunk.

There has to be more to this. First, for an intellectual disability to be assessed, there has to be a combination of low iq plus deficits in adaptive functioning (like caring for one's self independently). If this is the case, then these folks are entitled to support and help through disability services.
Second, for kids to be removed, there is supposed to be solid evidence of abuse or neglect.
I refuse to believe there isn't more. It would be too terrifying and heartbreaking. Not that I would ever hope for neglect or abuse, but that seems better to believe than kids being removed because the parents are a little slow. It doesn't take a high IQ to love. Thise poor kids.

Imagine dropping a pairing knife on your forearm, blade side horizontal, from about 6 inches. Probably be fine. Do it point side down and you'll need a bandaid.
