We once read a book in class where the protagonist, a teacher, raped a student of his. And everyone in my class said it wasn't rape and it was her fault and she wanted it. They argued this with: "Because she didn't say "no." she wanted it." And it's described that she tries to cover herself, and that she's uncomfortable heck the protagonist even says that she probably doesn't want it but he's gonna do it anyways. And they were all like: "meh, she could have said no.." It made me so mad... still does.

yes. Where I live you distinguish between a lecture and a seminar. In the seminar are less people and mostly an attendance list and you are not allowed to miss more than 2 sessions. In the lecture however it's just a room full of people and no one really cares whether you're there or not. So you can just not go and basically work at home :)

"Chinese characters first came to Japan on official seals, letters, swords, coins, mirrors, and other decorative items imported from China. (...)
In modern Japanese, kanji are used to write parts of the language such as nouns, adjective stems, and verb stems, while hiragana are used to write inflected verb and adjective endings and as phonetic complements to disambiguate readings (okurigana), particles, and miscellaneous words which have no kanji or whose kanji is considered obscure or too difficult to read or remember." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanji

but wait I only know this for Japanese but Japanese has 3 different writings. 1 Katakana, used for words that are foreign, Hiragana, alphabet for own words (the one shown) and Kanji, which are for meanings and does look similar to Chinese
