You can always ask your waiter to break a bill, they would be more than happy to :)

As it says at the bottom (it's small so it's understandable if you couldn't read it), most waiters in the USA are paid 2-3 dollars an hour, where minimum wage (which is difficult to live on) is about 8$ an hour.

That is your right, and why the tip is up to the patron, but keep in mind that is their main source of income, and please tip honestly :)

My mom has been working as a waitress for almost 20 years, and she has never worked anywhere that pays minimum wage.

Which is why tips are up to the customer, but tons of people don't leave tips even for great service. Understand that sometimes things happen that they can't control. I work at a very expensive restaurant, (the salads are upwards of 10$, and most of our entrees are 30$, our most expensive being 70$) and there are lots of times people come in to eat and, despite the prices being printed clearly, don't leave a tip because the meal was expensive. If you get shitty service, then go right ahead and do whatever you want, but always keep in mind that tips are their main source of income. Don't just tip poorly because you don't want to spend money, tip honestly according to service.
For those who think anime is just for kids 31 comments

MLP is definitely made for kids, while anime is definitely made for all ages. It's from a different culture, and tends to be more common among teens, but in Japan, anime and manga are made for everyone, with any interests. There are anime from many different genres, including non-fiction and Walks of Life. I'm honestly kind of sorry that you feel embarrassed just because you were interested in something that isn't made in your country, that a good number of teens happen to like. You are more than welcome to like or dislike it as you wish, but anime is definitely not meant exclusively for teens any more than TV shows are. Yes, there are certain animes that are meant for teenagers, and for children, but that isn't exclusive. I'd appreciate it if you at least stop posting hateful comments just because you feel embarrassed about appreciating something from another culture.

No, it's not as different, but there are movies that people watch that are set in the dark ages when it was acceptable to have your 14 year old daughter married and start having kids, when what you did with your shit was throw it out into the street because there was no plumbing. People watch movies set on different planets. It's completely up to you to watch anime or not, but every anime is different and not all of them are even set in Japan, just like not all American movies are set in America.

Fun story: for a while I worked for the stage crew for my high school, and we did this thing called dinner theater which was a compilation of songs that the students in the musical chose and all put together by my theater teacher. At one point, they sung Kiss the Girl from the little mermaid, and Peter Pan was a background dancer and when the two finally kissed he threw sparkle confetti. I still haven't gotten the sparkles out of my crew clothes.

As Superchicken explained already, you can be overweight and still be healthy, there are plenty of people who have curves who aren't unhealthy, just like there are people who fit into the "perfect weight range" who aren't. It's never okay to put people down for how they look, and you should never judge anyone, so stop being an ignorant asshole, because being thickheaded and unable to listen to reason, understand logic, or follow an argument isn't blissful.

We all have that one friend 18 comments

That's a good point, though. I don't get hungry, and so sometimes I don't eat more than a small meal a day, and some days I eat all day long. I used to get a lot of people saying they were jealous because I'd bring 10 piece McNuggets to stage crew... right before lifting a bunch and generally doing a lot of strenuous activity, because they said if they ate one they'd gain weight, but I stay below 100 pounds. What they didn't realize is during those days, that was the only thing I got to eat for the day because I can't do breakfast (I have no appetite in the morning, it makes me sick), and I would be busy the rest of the day except the 20 minutes spent going to get the chicken nuggets.

Platonic relationships are not inferior to romantic relationships. Remember that. You can always have a best friend, and they can be just as wonderful as a boy/girlfriend.

Somewhat understandable, but the thing that annoys me is when it's like, I'm at school. I'm wearing a t-shirt and jeans, yep, I'm wearing a bra, congrats. Are you worried that it's going to pervert young boy's minds to see a bra strap? Cause if they've ever gone swimming, they have probably seen more.

Trickle down economics 6 comments
missraven · 10 years ago
People use trickle down economics as a way to say there shouldn't be a minimum wage, because things trickle down anyway. Instead, CEOs are getting richer and the wage gap is increasing.

Um... Inflation, guys. That's how minimum wage fell, it fell in overall value, not in actual "amount"

Most people, when insulted, do not come out and say "I'm insulted" actually. Usually they say that when they actually are not. It is quite possible you were not, in fact, insulted, but that is the way you were acting, and that is a conclusion that I drew.
