Should people get worked up about cyber bullying? No, if they can just ignore it, by all means, but I'm sick of this idea that cyber bullying is not an issue and that people should just not have a social life just because some assholes decide they don't like him, and no one sticks up for him.

Some guy thought I was staring at him when I was in 8th grade, he continued to tease me for the rest of the year about it -_-

Teenagers act now 15 comments

Just because teenagers expect adults to recognize that they know SOME things does not mean they think they know everything. My teacher had this poster and it always pissed me off. I've never thought I know everything, but I do know that my mother is a hypocrite, and acts like she knows everything... just because she's a mom.

winter, because 90% of the servers where I work are living paycheck to paycheck, and 80% don't make enough to have savings. I still remember when I was 10 and we had the heating turned off for the entire month of December because my mom was 10$ short on the gas bill. It was freezing cold, even with 5 blankets and a cat to snuggle up with.

Fun story: my stage crew friends and I used to have a tradition of going to red robin after the final performance, and after the final for Scarlet Pimpernel, we got this really great waiter who had an accent that sounded like it was from New York or somewhere around there, clearly not from around where I live (in the midwest). We all took bets on where he was from, but none of us got it right (he was from Rhode Island!) and so we all put the money we bet into the tip, it was like 110%, and I really just hope we made his day, because servers are people too. They have lives, some of them have children, and some of them are trying to get a better job or go to school, but there are people who don't have jobs at all in our country, and sometimes, you take the best that you can get. Someone has to work in the food industry, so just remember they didn't sign on to make conversation with people who would rather save money than help make sure a single mother of two can pay the gas bill in the

I know that, and I'm 19, I don't give a shit if my parents see something, what I don't want is for my 6 year old cousin to be looking over my shoulder and see something that isn't appropriate, or for my 13 year old cousin to say "hey, my cousin goes on that site I should too!"

My mom walks upwards of 50 miles a day, carrying plates weighing up to 50 pounds. She has to do this quickly, while balancing everything, and dodging anyone who might be walking along the path. Yeah, not hard work at all, but you're right, it is absolutely yours, but that doesn't make you not an asshole, no matter how many dislikes I get.

Because it's something that most teenagers wouldn't want to have their parents look over and see on their screen, most things like this (imo) should be labeled as such, I'm kind of shocked by the number of times sexual and swearing things get off not nsfw, because really, do you want middle schoolers seeing that?

I don't know, my best friend's mother gets paid less than her subordinates, because they're all men. *shrug* It could have to do with her job, but that still seems a little strange to me.

Of course, and as I've said elsewhere, that's the point of tips, but they /don't/ here in the US and it sucks, but if you're living here you should always remember that. If you have shitty service, I certainly won't frown at you for tipping poorly, but quite often people get tipped poorly even for great service simply because people don't want to spend more money (money that they would have to spend anyway if restaurants were to pay servers properly, since then they would have to raise prices).

The prices are that high to pay for the actual FOOD. We are a steakhouse and we serve imported seafood, as things /are/, the place is starting to go under because the owners have to take out a loan to pay the employees each month.

Because building airplanes actually gets you a decent wage, not 2-3 dollars an hour. Waiters and waitresses work hard for their money too; I suppose if you're not living in the US things are different, but here it is extremely rude not to tip just because you want to save. So do they.

It has just as many jackasses, yes probably. But the majority are reasonable people who don't act at all the way we're perceived.

Yes, because managing everything for us is absolutely the best way to teach us to make good decisions, and I absolutely need adults to tell me "no, you can't go to the bathroom" because I might miss something important. The best way to prepare for the future is to get that responsibility, because if we don't have the ability to test the limits while we're teens, we're going to screw up far harder when we're adults. A good form of independence comes from being able to gradually get independence. Also, 90% of the time, the kids who get pregnant at 17 (and I know 4 couples who have had kids at a young age and for all of them this was the case) it's not because they get too much freedom, it's because they get none and they rebel. Try trusting and respecting teenagers once in a while, most of them are capable of not fucking up their lives entirely.

Hormones might make us moody sometimes, but I for one (at 19 now) have seen a hell of a lot more adults who act irrationally all the time than teenagers. This post is relevant because moody or not, teenagers are human beings, and we deserve respect. And moodiness isn't the only thing - adults writing about us being a "generation of victims" or "everyone wins", well who raised us that way?

Well, I'm glad things are different in the UK, but until laws change, it's not something people here should just ignore. :)

If you live in the USA now you are required to have health insurance. You'll get fined if you don't.

If there are multiple people serving it's likely because they're busy or someone is training, and then they have to split tips. If you have crappy service, it's understandable to tip poorly or not at all, but as things currently work in the USA, waiters need tips to get by. If there's nothing wrong with my meal, I always tip 10%, I've tipped more than 100% for a great server because, like it or not, THEY NEED IT. That's why this post exists, to remind people that, hey, the people who are serving you have a shit system in the law and until we can change it, they need your tips.

Yes, but then prices would have to be raised on food anyway, and no, it's not ideal, but it's how things currently work, so please be kind to your servers.
