They might be confusing the distance from Alaska to the tip of South America. It's not a straight line tho so the Pan-America highway is about 30,000 miles long. Or the straightest route is about 9,000 miles.

Easy killer. That's not why he didn't go. No sitting president has gone to a first lady's funeral since 1962.
