The truth about rap music 15 comments

It's always interesting to me how many people have such a distaste for rap/hip-hop. When I was a teen in the late 90's and early 00's, hip-hop was THE music to listen to, and it was "other" people who didn't like it. Now, I am in the distinct minority with my affinity for the genre, at least in my current social circles.

As an adult who has never lived in a place where police are "the enemy", nor has had any encounters that would cause a negative bias, I have nothing but a healthy respect for law enforcement. However, cops are pretty good at making themselves look like douchebags...especially now that we have videos to prove it.

Glad I'm not the only one. I don't know why slapping mosquito bites feels good, but it's definitely a good thing that I didn't engage in slapping itchy bumps when I had chicken pox.

Also, people will worry about all aspects of getting to the gym and obtaining membership at the gym, if people at the gym will make fun of them, if they are exercising correctly, if they could hurt themselves if they exercise incorrectly, if they are a failure if they miss a day of exercise, etc.

I agree. Because while many people with anxiety also suffer from depression, not all people with depression suffer from anxiety. And so while exercise may help those with depression, it could be an added source of anxiety for others.

I don't think I've watched an Austin Powers movie in about a decade, and yet I keep finding myself slipping quotes into conversations on a far too regular basis.

Especially when I was in high school. My mom would wake me up for dinner, and I would frantically start getting dressed, thinking I was late for school.

The saddest reason that this is true for me isn't because I can't afford new clothes. When I go shopping for myself, I end up buying twelve outfits for each of my kids.

This is sadly true, and I'm guilty of it. I get uncomfortable when I go to predominately white areas in the South, and it's not fair to stereotype all people because of a few bad apples.

"Black don't crack". My 72 year old grandmother has 40 year old skin, and I can only hope I'm just as lucky.
