Worked in A state run Veterans Home as a nurse, and they would forbid any family or outside staff coming in the building sick, but employees had to bring a Dr's note if they wanted to call out sick, and if they didn't they weren't allowed to use PTO hours to make up for the missed hours and we got written up (for being sick), some people were too sick to even get to the Dr and stayed home and came back to work facing write ups for everyday they called out. So there were a lot of people who had to come to work sick because they couldn't afford the Dr, or to lose hours.
