Detroit and Chicago aren't a potential ally for the UN and the US in sorting out the Middle East. as much of a hell as they are, at least we haven't seen any chemical weapons or murderous dictators... yet.

the reason we wish to interfere is the Geneva convention protocol outlawing the use of chemical weapons in warfare. Sure, Killing people 'normally' with bullets and bombs is horriffic but the difference between that and Chemicals is that the former can target a specific area. Chemical weapons drift wherever the wind takes them, killing young and old, innocent and guilty, mercilessly.
