I especially dislike the teachers who won't let you in if you're even 5 seconds late, but won't let you leave until after THEY are finished speaking, even if it cuts into your break, because according to them "your next teacher will understand if you're late".

The existing movie is a disgrace 26 comments

The movie by its self is pretty good, but when compared it to the book, you have two completely different story lines.
That's pretty nice 12 comments

Safety regulations and fair treatment are not the same thing. The event from the post and your event are not comparable, they are two completely different things.

It's not just the language. For example in Quebec (a province of Canada), laws concerning the Hijab and the Burka are very controversial. Many say that the Burka should be illegal because you can't identify the person wearing it. Many are also angry because those who wear the Burka are not required to reveal their face when doing their civic duty such as voting. There are also some religious people who demand paid breaks (or to arrive/leave work late/early) in order to go pray multiple times a day or have paid vacation time to celebrate multiple religious holidays. Some religious communities were even saying (and demanding) that Christmas trees shouldn't be put up in public places because it's not part of their religion.

I don't think people who smoke are bad people.
I don't know your situation, your family, or anything really, but I still think that if a smoker has a child with asthma (or something similar), to whom smoke is detrimental to their health, that parent has the responsibility to do everything in their power to quit smoking, or at the very least smoke away from the house and car.

It shouldn't matter how hard it is, not when it concerns your child's health. If anything, your child should be you biggest motivator to stop.

There is this great TV series called Lie to Me* that revolves around this. I highly recommend it.

I love the characters the actors play, not the actors themselves. Sure I admire actors who have incredible talent and have played numerous roles amazingly, but I don't care about their personal lives, it's not relevant to their performance.

In a way, it's king of an understandable deterrent. Hangings were generally public affairs so the experience would be humiliating.

I think people have the right to dress and act the way they want (as long of course that it doesn't harm anyone). Unless the person you are describing was stating that all woman act or should act like they do, than just let them be. Being "female" isn't a category with set criteria.

It's nice knowing that this is a universal thing that bus drivers do, there a sort of kinship to it.

Sure they were "cool and laughing" in the moment, they were insanely relieved that the horrors they had just been through were over! This type of event is probably going to leave life long mental scars. This was utterly terrifying to them and no laughing matter.
This had better been staged and faked, because if it's not, the people behind it all have clearly lost their humanity and common sens.
