If you look closely to my comment, I said "much less stigmatised" and not "no longer stigmatised".
I've gotten my fair share of disapproving looks while living 9 years in Japan for being otaku, but I don't seem how not using the word is going to help us getting less stigmatised.

Heard this on the news last earlier this week and if I remember correctly: abortion was mostly already banned in Poland, they removed the if-the-fetus-is-sick clause that was used in like 90% of legal abortions. (the only accepted abortions are now in the case of rape or incest)
