I agree completely, I think the way the game industry is going there's going to be some insanely good games on the way. Not just in the modern genre but indie games too, I think programs and ways to craft games are so much more accessible than before so it'll be easier for individual creators to get their stuff out into the world.

@halfdeadhammerhead Sorry, I didn't mean this thread to turn into a weird little argument. I think some of your points are valid but honestly, I was just saying everyone should enjoy what they want. I don't think there's a need to create a debate here (not suggesting you're the cause).

You need those classics to inspire these new games so maybe in future they'll be another game that replaces Stardew Valley that's even better

To me, video games make stories come to life. I love books with my heart and soul, I love games with my heart and soul too. I think they're so different it's almost pointless to compare them or place one above the other.
