I always found it weird that some countries don't hang out their washing, like is electricity super cheap there or something or y'all forget about the sun. I have a dryer but only cause I can't hang out my washing in winter.

People had spoken language before written language, so phonetically we say it like "fridge" but it originated from the latin word "refrigerator" and that came from "frigus", meaning cold. Much like other english words borrowed from other languages, the origin gets lost and we can't speak latin very well so we just end up spelling it how we say it.

Word origins are crazy, phonetics and linguistics is complicated especially english, I mean look at the word "apron" that thing is a mess.

I have a few because I am a hopeless romantic and adore kind acts, regardless of how small. One of my favourites though is when I was working at my old job, I was cleaning a table near these two older ladies who kept whispering, I could hear they were talking about me so I waited around in case they wanted to ask a question. Eventually they called me over and showed me a photo of an actress and kept telling me how much I looked like her, I told them how much I loved her movies and we started chatting. Turns out it was one of the ladies birthdays and she was hosting her party at my work, so they asked me if I would join them to celebrate. Luckily I was working, so I helped set up her party and the ladies hugged me and we danced together during the night which was really fun. They were so sweet and full of life.
