I’ve always said I wanna try mammoth meat 6 comments

i’ve heard it said that the meat would be toxic, due to the mineral content of the soil and its prevalence in the diets of the dinosaurs, and carnivores would be more so, given their diets of already mineral-rich proteins, as well as alternately gamey and earthy, again depending on diet.

I never found the time to play it, but I always wanted to. I love the first one, which as a concept was fantastic and the gameplay was, I found to be, epic, and if it weren’t for the fact that it was exclusively online I would still play it to this day

Founding Fathers had no chill 4 comments

Washington had a job to do. He knew he didn’t have the manpower, resources, etc. to engage them through any other means, so a surprise assault was the best way to go about it. And even still, it was kind of in the Christmas spirit; not a shot was fired, so it’s about the most peaceful surprise assault that could’ve been managed.

true enough. it isn’t fair to monday-morning QB, and considering many departments’ tendencies to enforce training on lethal use of force and not as much on non-lethal, her training could have just defaulted. but it’s upsetting nonetheless, and some might say it was deliberate. it admittedly was my first thought and any lawyer would run with it.

what pisses me off is typically officers put their taser in a cross-draw holster to AVOID this. so unless she didn’t follow this common-sense practice she deliberately drew her pistol. and should own up to it, because it might have been justifiable.

Ranked, it was always said that the Germans had the best trenches, the British were so-so, and the French almost literally wallowed in their own shit. and the americans, when they did use them (the Marines were famous for disdaining them in Belleau Wood), typically took up the ones that were already there made by those who already dug them.

cultural appropriation isn’t really an issue for them. i work with some awesome guys who immigrated here from Mexico and they say that generally they love to see people try and enjoy their culture and cultural style and encourage everyone to partake. so people complaining of appropriation (ESPECIALLY white people) is kind of confusing to them. their attitude is “if we don’t give a shit why should you?”

gonna need sources on the last one, because i think the confederacy of greek city-states did it first, but overall OP is right. we’re very far from perfect but try as the world might to deny it we’re pretty damn awesome!

yeah they kind of gloss over how we supported the “White” faction in the October Revolution, up to and including sending troops to Russia to help fight the “Reds”, which led to a bitter East-West distrust and outright hatred that was supported by paranoia and misinformation on both sides as to the “evils” of the opposing systems of government.

these are flechettes and, while being largely impractical, are bodily devastating when effectively applied. i think they’re banned by the geneva convention but don’t don’t quote me on that.

it once was a threat worth the caution and the measures taken. but these days, when we know how to treat it and have vaccines for it and have developed treatments for it and have drastically reduced the mortality rate, the measures are silly at best, and blatantly ridiculous and unnecessary at worse.

they did a retaliatory strike against the us which amounted to missiles against American military barracks and killed no one, if memory serves. about 100 troops suffered concussions but all recovered, and despite promises and threats of more violence they waffled on it. meanwhile the initial US strike on the Iranian General, be it justified or not, was actually successful.
so, pretty words, but i’d hardly call that a counterpunch.
