only really terrible thing about him is that he was incredibly racist to native americans. like wildly so. he’s still one of my favorites but it was pretty awful.

The Netflix series “barbarians“ depicted this FANTASTICALLY ! I recommend subs, not dubs.

people claim that science and Faith have to be mutually exclusive. But nowhere does it actually state that this must be so. The way I’ve had to described to me is this; faith tells why it happened, science tells how it happened. Evolution, the big bang theory, all of it fall under this. Nowhere does it state that we can’t have God and sound science.

this soldier used in the background is a beast. he has some vids of his training on Youtube and it’s kind of frightening

they wouldn’t even treat or paint the metal armor of the tanks, they’d just fuel them, load them, and throw a crew in them the same day they left the factory floor.

to be fair, stalin was at the height of his power, the russians has the nuke and were not afraid to brandish their new weapon, the korean war just ended in a tenuous ceasefire, china was newly communist, we just lost cuba to castro, AND eisenhower was a general that served in world war two, which was the most bloody and violent time in human history. guy had his work cut out for him.

AWESOME FACT he probably didn’t say that. it’s believed by many that he actually said the Greek phrase “Kai su, teknon” that shakespeare translated to latin for Julius Caesar. it means “and you, child” which was a common curse for the time, like a parting shot, something akin to “see you in hell, fucker”.

i want a sequel series that shows the continuing challenges tavi faces against a hostile senate, his efforts to reclaim alera, and how furycraft changes over time as the world changes around him. and kitai as a mom. i think she’d be awesome.

funny story; the entire series was written on a dare and a bet. tl;dr- Butcher bet he could write based from any prompt and someone he particularly did not like said “prove it- write a novel based on romans but with pokémon” and he was like “alright dammit i will”

the series in its entirety is found at most libraries so its binge-ready on a budget, too.

i have read and reread that series literally a dozen times!!! it is fantastic and Butcher’s portrayal of an advancing roman empire in a strange land with control over furies is breathtaking.
