agreed there are some shining gems in the mix (i would add castlevania and Peaky Blinders to the mix), but also a mountain of shit works in there too, like the Resident Evil series, the continuation of the Vikings series, Iron Fist (now owned by Disney), Record of Ragnorok…

on the contrary there’s actually some speculation that they either hissed like crocodilians or honked like large geese. i’ll look up the source, i saw it a year ago but it fucks with me still to this day.
edit: here’s the accursed article; https://www.cbc.ca/news/science/dinosaur-sounds-honk-growl-torah-kachur-1.3803212

i’ll do you one better; read Michael Crichton’s Timeline. it was made into a mediocre movie with Paul Walker and Gerard Butler, but the book is well worth the read.

i was unaware of these examples and good God that is terrifying. Knowing that, it seems more and more reasonable/unreasonable that she should have to google that.
also, admittedly, i have a personal history with miscarriages, wherein my wife and i suffered one early in our relationship. it was heartbreaking for the both of us, and in misunderstanding the post and not knowing that there are examples of the law being that fucked up, i thought she was making an inflammatory remark using something so traumatic to drive a message. i should have dug deeper.

i know that the system is on its head in a lot of ways right now but how in the wide blue fuck does this make any sense? nowhere in any laws does it state that a miscarriage is illegal, and she contradicts herself later in her own post by saying that she was not even pregnant in the first place. smells a little/lot like bullshit.

a-fuckin’-men, dude. it sucks, because they’re taking the easy route out and running product with the least involved effort to make the most money, appealing to the fan base to pay up but then criticizing them whenever they have legit criticisms. like i have actually heard amongst my own friend group no actual complaints about the skin color of Ariel, but EVERY one of my group is saying “oh great, another shit remake”. people really don’t care what the demographic of the character is so long as the story is good enough to warrant the movie in the first place, and, news flash, it hasn’t been for years.

agreed. the live action treatment doesn’t work. there’s a reason they were cartoons.
and there’s so much more material out there if you just have the bare minimum effort.

there’s actually a shortage of priests, so depending on what parish you are a member of this is more or less what they ask you to do. It’s sad, because often times in the confessional the priest is to act as a counselor, and a lot of them are trained that way, but Circumstances don’t allow for that kind of interaction. Often times, though, those parishes adapt by allowing the parishioners to schedule private confessions to be able to explore their sins and better find peace.

everyone dogs on the brits (myself included) but we gotta remember the whole of human history is full of bags of shit and countries committing atrocities.
France had Algeria
Germany had… well.
Italy had Ethiopia.
China has the treatment of the Uyghurs
Canada, The United States, and Australia have the treatment of the native peoples.
Russia has its pogroms.
Belgium had the Congo.
Japan had Nanking.
and i omitting several textbooks of other examples for each alone. not condoning or forgiving a single one of these one bit (and i love my country and have great respect for a few of these) but it’s a terrible fact of history.

funny you mention religion, because it’s a little the opposite… my kids are baptized, and i’m raising them to understand their catechism, but i want their education to be different from mine. i want them to want more, to ask questions, which i was not forbidden from doing, just never given good answers for, and it puts the pressure on me to understand what the church and i teach, and why we believe. if they’ve come to realize they don’t share my beliefs, then that is their choice and i hope they come to God in their own way, but the benefit for me is that i’ve come to be stronger in my faith as i learn more about it to better teach them.

the adult is me, and i am trying to rediscover my passions with the help of my kids by encouraging them to explore theirs. i cannot express how wonderful it is, and how freeing it is to be like a kid again and just do something for the sake of its enjoyment

also, Jesus was a middle eastern Jew, and every decent christian with a basic education of their faith knows that. the white depiction of Jesus is as antiquated as that attempt at poking fun at Christians .

eeehhhhhhhhhhhhh i mean for some people, yeah.
for the vast majority of fans, it’s less the change in race than it is the betrayal of characterization, totally separate from race. it’s upsetting when producers take established characters, themes, and stories, and shift their tones, motivations, and personalities to make them drastically different from what the fans had come to love, or use the bare minimum from the source material to create something that pushes a message (in either direction, right or left) without telling a story.
also, speaking from conversations with my brother in law; it’s unimaginative. is it too much to ask that studios like Disney put the time, money, effort and though into creating new diverse characters that carry meaning and invite their own worlds and beloved characters instead of piggybacking off past successes? why even bother, at that point, unless it’s a simple cash grab? at which point it no longer fees representative, just insulting.
