@scatmandingo it's just out of curiosity that I wonder if you have ever served in the military, no biggie either way, most of my friends never have and we get into debates of what is and what should be all the time. I always thought that the Founding Fathers had their shit together when they made the military to be under civilian rule. Like I said no biggie if you don't want to reply, or whatever your answer is.

I am not saying people of color shouldn't have leading rolls. Idris Ebela is one of the finest actors in Hollywood today, he's gotten some shit movies but I would like to see him in a good movie. I just don't think that something based on a historical event should be altered or sugar coated.

Good turn around. I grew up poor but happy. There wer a few times in the 70&80s that suck pretty bad. The last recession wasn't as bad as the few before it. I rember having bean or pea soup a lot. When I went in the service my pay for housing got screwed up and I had to use a credit card for food and stuff. Ramen noodles are tasty only when it's a choice lol. I lived off base so I would have to pay (very reasonable prices) to eat on base. I am glad you got good things going for you.

Happy Birthday ! Wtf is wrong with these assholes, my dad was pretty heavy handed when it came to discipline , but absolute respect for my mom. Mom did most of the disciplining , dad usually handled it with threats. I had a crazy, but good childhood. My dad was an Airborne Ranger in Korea, I know some of the shit he did was from bad expiriences there. I never understood some of things he said or did until, I got out of the service myself. This world can be a terribly bad place, but there's also so much wonder and beauty too. I hope that both of you find happiness .

I have raised several step kids, and still am. I am getting a bit long in the tooth for it but I would like to beat your step dad with a baseball bat and put him in the hospital so he doesn't have to pretend to be crippled. Talk to a psychiatrist or therapist. Get it out to a professional so it doesn't take the rest of your life. I feel for you.

I had never heard of him before the movie came out. Audi Murrphy went into acting so everyone knew about him. Doss was just a low key little dude that came through at the worst of times. Shit , his heart must have grown bigger than the Grinch try to save the Whoville Christmas presents, lol. Just think of the guys that he dragged out of there that had called him a coward, that would be a hard thing to live with.

Have you ever seen Hacksaw Ridge , about Desomd Doss. Amazing, I think every American should know about him. I looked at some photos of the actual area that his story takes place, damn, when I was in my prime, under ideal conditions, I don't think I could have move the weight that guy saved in lives. Throw in a division of japs trying to kill you and it would just get harder.

I would've wanted my medic treating our wounded instead of engaging the enemy. Who would take care of you and the rest of us if you got hit ? I understand your frustration though. It's hard to stand by at times.
