Thats precisely dr. Peterson's point. He's happy to call people by their preferred pronouns. He simply doesn't think it should be a law because it goes against the concept of free speech.

Do you reject his validity because his view of the world is different than yours?

I think that if you're searching for any of those answers on google you're looking at the world wrong.

Having a star doesn't mean you're a puppet conformist but intentionally chasing or maintaining a star might.

@iccarus, good comments dont get you a star. Lots of comments that the majority of the people here agree with is what will get a star.
.
That's the problem with this particular feedback loop. It rewards people for conformity. That is the long way of saying that if independent thought is your goal, the star cannot be.

You guys do realize that the star is a classic positive feedback loop designed specifically to keep you engaged on this website don't you? It's explicit purpose is to keep you emotionally connected to this website so they can slide ad after ad across your eyes and charge companies accordingly.
Edit:spidey gets it!

You're right @poopun. The best course of action is certainly not to start with tangible goals that can get you some personal wins that, if dedicated, could put you well on the path to becoming the person you always hopped you could be.
.
Yep, sitting on your moms couch trying to drum up as much online sympathy for your current state is clearly a better path to get the life you want.
.
Your wisdom is mind boggling.

@scatmandingo - "The truth is the second or third generation that is inheriting wealth is not working for it, nor are they in control of the employment of the middle class. That’s why trickledown has never been effective."
.
Like i said, you wrote what you think doesn't work. Trickle down economics is a ridiculous analogy for capitalism, but it is capitalism. If not "trickle down", what should happen?
.
I dont think anyone on the planet would honestly suggest that capitalism is perfect. But i believe it's the best system (not the crony version) humanity has ever had. Your words would suggest a disagreement with that statement.

Im with you. There would be pencil led shavings in there too. Wouldn't the led shavings do the opposite of erasing when it was rubbed on paper? Ill believe it when i see it in action.

Im thinking the same thing. We are overrun with mcdonalds in mn yet it has chic fil a as the winner and i can only think of two of them.

Scatmandingo, i think we're confused with what you think it SHOULD look like. You pointed out problems with what currently exists and in the absence of a solution from you, the people here have drawn their own conclusions to what they think your fix is.
.
Could you fill us in on how you see to fix it? Or what a better system would look like?

Start with eating healthy and becoming physically fit. That will go a long way toward the rest of it.

This argument is similar to the WW1 doctors who suggested that the use of helmets in combat is actually bad for the soldiers because they saw a significant increase in head injuries since the beginning of helmet usage.
.
There was a terrorist problem that killed thousands of people, and a subsequent cry for it to be fixes. They've fixed it so well that there's terrorism from that demographic has almost fallen off completely. And now we have an entire generation of people who are so far removed from the pain of mid eastern terroristic attacks that the safety precautions put in place to stop them are almost comical to them.

Furthermore the "economic retaliations" that Trump is threatening to pull are simply to removed the government subsidies that Bush put in place to help bail out GM for the 25 years of mismanagement that lead up to their 08' bankruptcy.
.
Basically Trump is threatening to stop spending your money to support General Motors.

GMs job cuts have almost nothing to do with the tariffs. It has to do with an automotive sales market that is at the end of its longest continuous rise in us history combined with increasing competition from japanese and korean manufacturers in the small car segment. Interesting enough, if the US had a flatter trade balance with the world (what Trump is combating with tariffs) GM would likely be in a better position to keep these plants open.

It's much easier to blame the bad orange man though.
