Meh, I don't really see including their makeup skills in what they're judged on as a bad thing. It takes a lot of work to get good at makeup, especially stage makeup that looks good under bright lights.

OF COURSE septic wounds don't look healthy. You can indeed say from looking that septic wounds are unhealthy. Morbid obesity is is obviously not healthy but visually assessing someone's BMI and conjecturing about their health is a bit different from looking at flesh that is literally green.
