While there is a chance that this is photo shopped, I have spoken to many people who were weirdly calm despite what ever brought them into the ER. Once guy was laughing about how dumb he was, while 90% of his leg had been taken off with a chain saw. I spoke with one man who acted perfectly normal, except that he had been stabbed multiple times by an angry driver, and had the knife sticking out of his left arm. I had a woman come in who had fallen off the roof. She had 2 kids with her and acted completely normal, except that she had a compound fracture (bone sticking out of skin) of her ulna and radius. She had gotten both her kids together, and drove all 3 of them to the ER, and was still only concerned with not upsetting her kids. Different people handle pain very differently. Add to that shock and adrenaline, and he might not even be in pain, yet. I just hope this guy got medical attention soon after this picture was taken.

This can also happen during cataract surgery if the surgeon isn't really careful with the suction instrument used to take out the old cataract. The pupil is a muscle, and can tear just like one in your arm or leg. Once of the doctors I used to work with was developing a mechanism to protect the iris during surgery, because this was happening so often with unskilled surgeons. He even showed me videos of surgeries where the pupil was torn. Not something i recommend to look up on youtube unless you have a very hard stomach.

I think the caption is slightly wrong. I've seen newborns that were in the NICU because they were born with diabetes.

I wonder if it's because the KKK was actively supporting the police via demonstrations, and they really didnt want to show that. Leaving the facts of the case, and what has been reported to have happened from either side, no one wants to be seen as on the same side as the KKK. (Well, nobody good.)

Objectifying women, (or anyone, what do you think slave owners saw their slaves as? Hint: objects) is dehuminizing. When someone is objectified, they are no longer looked at as an equal, they are seen as someone to be used, and that use is more important then that person. Using that person is seen as a right or entitlement, while the rights of the objectified person are thrown out the window.
We are not talking about men and women looking at someone and thinking "hey they're hot, my body finds theirs attractive." Objectifying someone involves reducing who someone into an object to fulfill a selfish (rather than mutual) purpose. You can objectify people based on gender, but also by income/social status, race, culture, or even geography.
Do you really think objectifying a person is the same as objectifying clothing?

A simple internet search refutes basically all your statistics and "facts". Like how you say that both men and women use firearms equally, when 73% of firearm suicides are male.
Your claiming that most women being treated for depression, are not actually depressed, that women don't know what depression is. You claim that men are more often "truly depressed". Im guessing you have no experience in mental health. And im actually thinking most of your thinking is based off stereotypes and a touch of male superiority. I suggest you check out badscience.net to help with determining if research and data are real, or are actually made up "facts" to support an agenda.

I disagree. I am quite aware of all the stupid stuff I copied from tv, or from watching other kids who were much more coordinated and skilled then I. Particularly when it came to bottle rockets and trampolines.

The clear problem is that men are not seeking treatment for their depression. I think there are a lot of factors at play that acount for this. Like what soullesspegasus and 15jbaughman said. Another is that women more commonly see physician regularly, which leads to more opportunities to have depression treated. Women have to see a doctor at least once a year for most forms of birth control. Typically, the mother is the in who takes her children in for well child or sick doctors visits, also giving her more face time with a physician then the father. Women also typicaly get a lot of monitoring of their emotional state durring and after pregnancy (post-partum depression). This also leads to a more extensive medical history for women over men when both seek treatment for depression, and means that women are more likely to seek medical treatment in the first place, because they have a regular doctor or are more comfortable being a patient.

To those who do not know, there is a whole culture and community connected with Down syndrome. You can celebrate people as individuals and their diagnosis. I am weirdly excited when I meet someone with Down syndrome or their parents. I love introducing my daughter to them and talking with them. There is an instant connection and understanding that we share.

There are actually no latin words that mean laptop or television. Television is actually half greek and half latin. Another reason it's considered a dead language is because no one speaks it as their native language. Latin is a root language, it gave us French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Romanian. It's used quite a bit in the medical and science communities. It isn't extinct, but it is dead.

I think both are right. People with Down syndrome are awesome, and so is the diagnosis. To people who have never had any eperience with those that have down syndrome, it's the diagnosis they don't understand that usually leads to avoidance or hurtful behavior. But its those who have Down syndrome who show everyone that it's something to celebrate. My daughter isnt awesome inspite of her Down syndrome, its part of what makes her so amazing.

It's considered a dead language because it isnt changing and evolving as other languages are. We aren't adding new words to it.
