seriously? Having worked 4 years in an ER, I can tell you that yes, women CAN die from their period. Many with PCOS bleed to the point they require transfusions. And what about those that die in child birth? Or from toxemia? And if a large cyst ruptures on an ovary, a woman can indeed die without treatment. I have a friend who had a complete hysterectomy at 25 because her period was LITERALLY killing her!

Tell ya what. To the men who have actually gotten kicked so hard they've passed out, puked, required hospitalization/surgery, you are absolutely allowed to say you have had an experience worse than most women's periods. To every other guy, nope. Just admit having a uterus that bleeds once a month and causes pain, headaches, nausea/vomiting, and fatigue, sucks. And that's all without any atypical condition like PCOS or endometriosis. It sucks. It hurts. And I don't know a single woman who wouldn't give their almost anything to not have to have one.
Yeah, getting kicked in the balls can be super painful and even debilitating. But most men will never be hurt bad enough to require more then some aspirin and an ice pack. And it's something that happens rarely, not every month.
A 40+ years of bleeding and pain every month is not the same as a kick to the balls.

Even in the US, hundreds die every year from the flu.

Yeah, not true either. It has nothing to do with the baby's body not being able to handle the dead virus, it has to do with a systemic reaction that is caused when the immune system responds normally to the vaccine. Which is why it's a freak random occurrence, and vaccines aren't given to children with extremely poor immune systems. So no, you can not say that if they didn't have it they would have died in 10 years from a crap immune system. It doesn't work that way. Medicine is not a+b=c. It's closer to differential calculus or astrophysics.

Not true actually. All medical treatments pose some sort of risk. .001% of those vaccinated will have a reaction their body can't handle. And sometimes that leads to death. One of my best friend has a 16 year old daughter with severe cerebral palsy caused by a brain bleed after a vaccination. It can happen. But, she still chose to vaccinate her other children because, as a nurse, she knows that it's an extremely rare and freak accident type of reaction. The chances of a life threatening/life altering reaction are so small and rare, that using it as an excuse not to vaccinate, is doesn't make sense.

Oops, wasn't logged in.
Vaccines exist to combat viruses, because viruses don't respond to antibiotics, only bacterium do. In developed countries, during WW1, more people died of the flu then died in the war.
We're not talking about bubonic plague, or cholera, or even hepatitis. Spend anytime in a children's hospital, and you will see why vaccines are so needed in the developed world. Vaccines are important to protect children, the elderly and the immune compromised (auto immune diseases, those on cancer treatments, and a whole host of genetic conditions that hurt the immune system). Vaccines are not just to protect you. They protect others from you.

Sometimes i think people purposely post as a guest because they don't want their words they post to be identified with them. If you don't want to put your face and name with your words and opinions, maybe you should change your opinion.

As a victim of domestic violence, this is in poor taste. Make fun of the abuser all you want, but laughing at a victim trivializes what happened to them. It may seem funny to those that have never experienced abuse, but to those that have, this hurts.

At work one day, i had a patient come up to me and hug me and start talking about how she missed me and what was i up to and blah blah blah. I just stood there with a surprised look on my face. It took her a minute till she noticed. Turns out she was my twin sisters roommate in college. Awkward, but funny.

I admit, I considered this once when my sister posted an adorable pic of herself. I mean, technically it's me. (Genetically)

That's not a feminist. That's a man-hater. Feminists want equality for all. Man-haters want to men under them.

I worked in the ER for 4 years. I don't get why, but it seems to bring out the worst in good people, and the crazy/hateful in jerks. Not everyone of course, but holy eff, emotions run high.

I watched this with my 2year old daughter who has Down syndrome. The message is just beautiful. I love it. Thank you purplesongbird!

True. Most think the hijab and such is imposed upon women. And in some very restrictive (terrorist) sects it is. But for most women, they choose to dress this way out of religious preference. It's based on religious beliefs and personal preference.
I think the artist though is pointing out the difference in rights that different countries fight for. One, a women fighting for gun control, another for rights to her own body. I think it's meant to make the reader consider that another's fight may be more important and basic than another. But that's just my take.

This is true feminism. Real equality, for both sides. Including getting rid of negative stereotypes aimed at men.
I love this!

Also, FYI secialagentjesus, there are no sub varieties of Down syndrome. That's a common misconception. You either have it or you don't. Although some people are higher functioning then others. Luckily, with therapy and modern medicine, more and more people with Down syndrome are attending college, living on their own, and working in higher paying jobs.

Just because YOU don't value life, doesn't mean others don't. The point about them being happy is to try and show that people are more then their diagnosis. It's about putting a face on the issue instead of dehumanizing people who are different. Why are you more deserving of life then someone born with a genetic condition? People are complex. You can't know anything in advance. You don't know if the person sitting next to you in a theater will create a life saving device or rob a bank. It isn't about unknowns. It's recognizing the individuality of each person born and not refusing them a future.
