I was about to say that. It's like echo location, with bats because bats are also blind, so they use echolocation to find their food. But with dogs, humans, etc. we need something to help guide us. humas use a stick and wave it around, so if it hits anything, they know what is ahead of them. Other wise, you'd just be continuously walking into things. The dog uses the bowl like a human uses a walking stick.
