Modern arranged marriages 11 comments

You're right. Mostly the groom and his family visit the bride to be, to finalize the wedding (dowry, bride's family background etc.). Groom and his family are usually not scrutinized in this way in this process, even though the bride is supposed to go live with them. Over time this has come to change a bit, but not much. So this ad is trying to show that the modern parents are considering the girl and the boy to be equals, which is creative IMO.

Sas-Bahu Temple in Nagda-Rajasthtan, India, 10th Century AD 1 comments

Saas and bahu actually means mother in law and daughter in law, respectively in Hindi. The temple's name and structure are designed to suggest that both saas and bahu are interdependent on one another.

It is used that way. In more rural areas, jute & hemp is used to make bags, baskets etc., especially for industrial uses as they are cheaper to produce and stronger as compared to other fibres. But these fibres cannot be used as a substitute for cotton in everyday use such as clothes.

More uncomfortable. Not as absorbent. Stiffer and thicker fabric with a bit of shine. There's a reason why cotton is so popular. It is softer and can often be blended with other fibres to incorporate different properties
