Disney as a whole is much larger than Sony is, muuuuuuch larger

Disney had already agreed to 5% while Sony was fully funding the movie. Disney wanted to start paying for half the movie and split the profits right down the middle. Sony who already knows how they benefit from the existing deal said no to Disney, and counteroffered to keep there current mutual benefitial deal. Disney is greedy and wants to take more away from Sony.

They own the property, and they had an existing deal they wanted to stay with, it isn’t on them to make a counter offer
