****SPOILERS****
Basically, Tyler was just a figment of (main character)'s imagination. While Protagonist thought Tyler was doing all the Project Mayhem and Fight Club stuff, it was actually the Protagonist. It explains why the Protagonist has insomnia - he's actually awake all night, thinking that he's Tyler, doing Tyler things, but then never remembers any of it. Crazy movie, fantastic premise, A++
