I was in grade 11 and I was sitting at the dinner table with my parents. I'm eating and all of a sudden my mother goes 'let's talk about sex' and almost spat out my food. That was not the place or the time mom. Should have done it sooner - the internet already taught me everything by that point.

@hyperion I'm glad you enjoyed it! @kouyaaotsuki I used to write a lot when I had spare time! I was in the middle of a book, but academics took over and it's been collecting dust. If I ever finish it, I'll let you know!

I tapped my fingers against the arm of my chair, my client looking off to the side. I had heard of this person before. Two of my close colleagues, after speaking to him, had decided to take their own lives. The part of me that was enraged by the death of two of my close partners was shadowed by my curiosity of how he did it. As I was about to speak, he stood up. "You're just like the rest of them - weak. None of them could help me, and now," he leaned in close, "you'll be next." A week had passed since I had seen that person, and yet I was still here. As I got arrived home after work, there was a note on the door. It simply read "Enjoy". Opening the door, I dropped to me knees. My entire house had been replaced with Minions. There were thousands of them - lamps, chairs, photographs... I couldn't take it. As fast as I could, I ran up the stairs to see my entire family in Minion costumes, holding baseball bats. Before they could catch me, I jumped out the window. In that moment, I knew.

Honey bees can also have a negative impact on the reproductive success of wild plants (11) and even depress nonpollinator species—for example, the threatened Lear's Macaw in Brazil, which competes with honey bees for nest sites in rock cavities. The western honey bee thus unequivocally fits Geslin and colleagues' concept of a “massively introduced managed species,” which, regardless of whether they are native or not, can negatively affect their environment through sheer numbers (14)."

This concern is understandable given the importance of pollinators for global food security; ∼75% of all globally important crops depend to some degree on pollination, and the additional yield due to pollination adds ∼9% to the global crop production (1). These services are delivered by a plethora of species, including more than 20,000 species of bees as well as butterflies, flies, and many species of vertebrates (1). Yet, concern has focused on one species above all: the western honey bee (Apis mellifera). This is unfortunate because research shows that managed honey bees can harm wild pollinator species, providing an urgent incentive to change honey bee management practices."

What year are you in? I'm in my third and it's been terrible. If you need some easy/weird electives, I have a degree full of weird things.
