I can't stand small minded people and would like to wholeheartedly offer my support and friendship to maliah, because you said you always have elevator music playing in your head (yeah, I creeped on your comments, you can never be too careful about who you befriend) and dorkykong because you combined dorks and Donkey Kong, which are great on their own but exponentially better together. So... Please be my friend? Please? I'll make you both some cake.

Panic At The Disco had, like, an entire album of songs (ok, maybe not an ENTIRE album) that had Closer quotes in the lyrics or as titles. Great album and SUPER great movie. If you haven't seen it you should hunt it down.

Pan's Labyrinth is an exceptional movie! You don't usually see anything about it anywhere so this made my day!

People find it much easier to criticize in an "anonymous" atmosphere, no real chance of being held accountable. You're fabulous and the people that count know it! I'm getting by, all my issues seem to be focused on dealing with my (apparently lame) boy. Hoping to get back to the random controversial FS commenting!

I do! I do! We haven't crossed paths in a bit, how is the interweb treating you? I must add that if you're in an area where the auto show hasn't occurred you should attend it! So fun!

Ha, no one has ever said that before! Snugglebutt is a cat in a book and it was so absurd that I had to mine it.

Rapunzel I knew. Wasn't sure about the cannula she's rocking or Flynn's cigarette. I'll have to pick the book up ASAP. Thank you!

I'm feeling seriously stupid right now, what book is this supposed to be? Based on the comments so far I think I need to read it.

That's so awesome! This is why Nintendo is the best! I love hearing stories about these higher level executives that actually seem to have at least a bit of a grip.

I'm too tired to Google this, is it true? If so I love it! My bosses won't take what amounts to a nominal reduction in their RAISES to pay me even 1% more. They literally make more in bonuses than I make annually.

I fell asleep and ruined the run we had going! But thank you sir or madam, I top my hat to the guest who knows their Oasis. Noel Gallagher has a band, by the way! :-)

And all the roads we have to walk are winding and all the lights that lead us there are blinding there are many things that I would like to say to you but I don't know how

I happen to like Wal-Mart. I do not like the negative association with the US.

I do understand the pun, by the way. I'm just tired of the mockery, which runs rampant on ALL supposed humor sites.

If America is so incredibly awful I think all the ungrateful people who mock it should get the hell out. I'm not a huge fan of our current administration but we were founded on the right to be free; I support your right to express opinions but I can't understand the people who profess hate fire this country but continue to exploit the freedoms it provides. If you despise it so much get the fuck out.

I see that. I probably took it a tad bit too seriously, as I do tend to feel strongly about even funny things that hit close to home. And it didn't help that I've found this site in particular to be a place where it's generally ok to speak freely as long as it's being done in a reasonable way. Racial issues have been a huge topic at work for me lately so I'm feeling vocal about the subject. Thanks for not attacking my jumping the gun-nesss. :-)

... I'm entitled to my opinion, for one thing. Also, did you really scroll past the 4 or 5 page (? or is it considered a window?) comment regarding racial issues? Because that was a lot more serious than what I said. Further also, screw off. Don't like my comment? Just keep scrolling down. I like being able to express my thoughts amongst a community of people that are generally very level headed and considerate so that I can maybe see someone else's opinion. FS is great for reasonable discussions about all matters funny and serious.

I'm popping back into these comments late, but I wanted to point out that I do find the post amusing (especially the last picture), it just kind of bothers me that no one gets all up in arms over a picture showing white people being stereotypically white, but it's generally frowned upon to do the same with any other race. Not trying to be a downer I've just had a few situations where this has been an issue lately. That being said, I'm sorry if my rants bother or offend anyone!

Why is it ok to make whole big white people posts? I'm in no way racist, but the hypocrisy of white people jokes being funny but jokes about every other race being racist really bothers me.

Condensed version: life experience isn't necessarily quantifiable. A degree or certification is at least a document to show intent to excel.

What makes that difficult (though I fully, completely agree with the concept) is that life experience isn't a truly measurable unit. 2 people can have the same life experience and not have equal skills. Your ability to learn from an experience may be greater or lesser than someone else's. Race, ethnicity and gender have a negligible effect; your ability to learn has far greater impact on your long term capabilities. And that is what, sadly, makes degrees and formal documentation (which can be difficult for people who do not come from affluent backgrounds to come by) an important part of hiring and placement decisions.
Sorry that was rambly!
