Usually we have 2 people at the tills, one ringing up the items and one bagging them. And I guess management thinks that sitting down makes you look lazy so you aren't allowed to, at least thats the reason we were told when I worked at a grocery store

Where I'm at, Cashiers are not allowed to sit and have to bag your stuff. You can only sit if you can prove you need to
