I think it has more to do with how many selfies are being taken, than the fact that selfies are being taken.
It's one thing if you only take a selfie for a profile picture, or so you can remember how you did your make up that morning for future reference.
It's another thing if you're taking 500 selfies because you're just that vain.

And besides that, this post is FUN, (you know, the kind of thing allowed on funsubsubstance), in an educational way.

Yeah probably, as I've taken 10+ years of ASL from the local elementary school that serves deaf students, and that's what they taught.
