That's how nature be. A real flower has small imperfections also, not noticed at first but when you keep looking, there they are.

No. That's what follows "what is love?".
"What is life?" Should be followed with "A magazine."

For no reason I'll remind you. Color photos were common in the 90s. To really sell this they should have taken the photo with an older camera, like and old Polaroid. And kicked the stones around a bit. Maybe put the child doing something more realistic than standing by a pothole. And better yet, have them doing something dated like riding a big wheel tike or playing with an old yoyo.

When you give CPR to a woman but she browses 7 comments
thekaylapup · 5 years ago
Interestingly enough this isn't exclusively a gender issue. Many people are concerned about giving CPR in a variety of situations for a variety of reasons.
People often don't give mouth to mouth at all due to the probably that the other person will vomit in your mouth. Face masks are rarely available if you incouter someone who needs CPR in the street.
And since chest compressions often do break cartilage and have been know to fracture ribs, even when performed exactly correctly, some people are afraid of hurting the other person/getting sued.
EMTs give CPR when on duty, as do a number of other medical professionals who are actively at work. However, fear of lawsuits prevents a number of people who are certified in CPR to be unwilling to perform it off duty.
Basically, if you don't know someone, and you aren't responsible for saving their life, it's likely you will have second thoughts about performing CPR. Now, plenty of people still will perform CPR, even with second thoughts.

Yeah, especially as the pothole clearly hasn't gotten much worse in that time, which suggests that road doesn't see a lot of traffic.

If the French invade France, who surrenders first? 5 comments

I mean sort of. Except the north won the civil war in the United States, and that's definitely an answer you'll get from Americans.
Just like the revolutionaries won the French Revolution. (Though, maybe that's leaving out a lot of complexity) The Huguenots won the French Wars of Religion (though they also converted to Catholicism and Herny IV of France never had particularly good relations with his nobility or the catholic church, so perhaps it's fair to way no one won that war). And King Luis XIV won the Fronde.
Civil war doesn't mean there aren't distinct sides that have their own ways of being distinguished.
Also, I think its important to remember civil war often leaves the region less stable and with a lot of dead on their hands, regardless of who is victorious. So perhaps it's more accurate to say the Americans lost their civil war and the French lost their civil wars than it is to say either won their civil wars.

@cakelover The problem with your statement is that these new forms of making money are not realistically achievable for a majority of the population. So as these continue to elevate some and the cost of living goes up, while the average person's wage doesn't rise (or rises much more slowly) the gap between rich are poor grows wider. And the number of hardworking people who are also in poverty continues to rise.

I think that most members of the LGBTQ community feel that non LGBTQ relationships are fine and aren't opposed to them "in their spaces". So long as everyone is cool about it. It's only a problem if a straight person is offended by advances (if you don't want to be hit on ny the same sex, maybe a gay bar isn't a great place to hang out is what I'm saying). Atleast that has been my experience.

Do you mean we have the ability or it's legal. Because that is actually complicated. Legally many minors can drink under certain conditions. The laws very from state to state. In Iowa it is legal for a minor to drink at home with parental consent and supervision. I know that many states have similar laws. One common state law allows minors to drink for religious purposes (ie. Communion wine). I know there is at least one state where it's legal for anyone with a valid ID to drink anywhere so long as their guardian is also present, also has their ID and no one is intoxicated. I don't remember which state though, and I guess its possible that the law has changed since I learned it. I mostly only worry about the laws where I am at, and I have been less concerned since I am myself old enough to buy alcohol and have been for a few years now.

Good theory @tony007 but the original text clarifies a straight line and doesn't clarify "human" simply "you". I propose that this is a quote given to an alien whose planet was observed to be round. This was significant of course due to the earth being flat. If you run in a straight line long enough on earth, you'll eventually drown.
Also @everyone this is a joke. I am aware the earth is round. I am also aware that there is no straight line which can be walked around its circumference, due to vast oceans.

Like maybe not, but I live in central Iowa. And we get plenty of weed here without the cops knowing. Like, you may not know the key to smuggling weed through Iowa, but I know that lots of people must because there is plenty of weed here. In fact most of the notable crime in my town is drug trafficking.
And the only time I've ever heard of someone getting caught with weed, they were either being very stupid, were breaking some other law, or were actively high in public. And I know plenty of people who have weed at home and take it with them ppl laces without a problem just because they understand how to do so without getting caught.
Its actually really simple to avoid the cops. There are few major highways. Take the alternative routes. Don't drive while high. Don't break other traffic laws. Drive a car that isn't an obviously shit car (I know that one is harder for some) and (I know this isn't fair) if you are a minority travel with people who are not.

I just want to make a quick defense of insensitive memes. I know sometimes people cope with hard situations by making light of them. Sometimes humor is an effective tool to deal with serious issues.
Now, that being said I think that we still want a community experience that leaves everyone feeling safe and doesn't allow outright discrimination. Finding that balance can be hard, but I think we have a good balance for the most part.
As for school shootings being a serious issue: in all seriousness we need better mental healthcare options in the United States. No normally functioning well adjusted teen with no mental illness is going to just decide to shoot up their school because of a meme.
The best way to combat school shootings is with education and mental healthcare. Teens need to be given help before they reach the point that they become a danger to themselves and/or others.
Would better gun laws help? Maybe, yeah. But that's not even the core issue.

It's easy to navigate because most of the roads follow a grid, the signs are clear and traffic isn't usually enough of an issue that you can't take the right exit.
Why do people hate States just for being boring? I get that you wouldn't want to come to Iowa as a tourist, but I don't understand the hate.

There's definitely a lot of corn fields and wind farms, but Iowa isn't that bad as a whole. The traffic isn't terrible and it's easy to navigate for the most part. Plus crime isn't a huge issue for the most part. It's just boring is all. And boring is kinda nice when you're a bit of an introvert.
