Well, no. Technically people are free to value things differently regardless of thickness. Also, the "Blood is thicker than water" saying actually was orginally supposed to refer to the blood of the covenant and the water of the womb. And it meant that your devotion to God was more important than your family. Personally, I disagree with both interpretations of the saying. Family is important, and a supportive healthy family structure is far more important than religion in my opinion. On the flip side of that, I have had friends I could count on, who would be there for me through anything, who I loved and who loved me. My own blood relatives have not been so supportive and some have in fact been emotionally abusive. I definitely value those friendships over my family ties.

It didn't--but we know the two of them were together at the end of the movie, and we know Jenny had AIDS, and we know they had a son together, so it's easy to imply that she would have given Forrest AIDS given a modern understanding of how one gets AIDS, especially given that it wasn't well understood at the time the movie is set in.
This man's collection of lost apples 8 comments

We could actually create more fairly easily though, if we wanted. In fact, there is a very simple reason why we have so many apple varieties now. Apple trees experience something known as exterme hertrozygostity, meaning that when you plant an apple tree from seed, the resulting tree produces apples that look and taste nothing like the parent tree's apples. Unfortunately most apples taste terrible actually--so when an apple is delicious, we use that tree to make clones and grow more of the same kind of apple. But if we really want to have more variety of apples, we would just need to plant many apple trees and taste test until we found good ones.

Completely reasonable. All humans should act respectfully. No one is entitled to another person's seat.

It sounds good in premise. But unless you know her and her story, judging her for her pregnancy is unfair. A terrifying number of teenagers are forced into having sex when it isn't what they want. And if she was raped, she didn't exactly have the option to say "we can only have sex if you wear a condom" sure, there is birth control, but your can't except teens to get themselves on birth control in case they are raped-- that's just not a fair expectation.
And is it more likely the girl made a series of poor decisions to get here-- probably, but you can't know that. So maybe you don't have to give up your seat, but try to treat her as another person deserving of fair and equal treatment. You have no idea what she has been through to land her here.

It's this full time? Are there benefits?
I don't mind if it's part time no benefits, but it does need to be at least one night a week with consistency. I can't have this job need to be a second job. If I am working graveyard shift, I am only working graveyard shift.

I didn't assume it was on purpose. Sounds like it was frustrating. I'm sorry your dog ruined your cake. I'm also sorry if my comment came off as blaming, it was only supposed to be informative.

While dogs are allergic to chocolate, some dogs have a more severe allergy than others. I have to assume there was not enough chocolate in that cake to be a large problem for your dog. Enough chocolate will still almost certainly kill your dog. And that amount of chocolate will still kill some dogs.
Also, I don't know if its true for dogs, but human allergies can develop over time. On the chance that might be true of dogs, it could be possible your dogs allergy gets worse. For this reason I would not allow him to have even a small amount of chocolate

Just in case anyone doesn't know the it's the spoon. You shouldn't put metal in a microwave it causes sparks and can lead to fires.
The obvious solution is to not put the spoon in the microwave. If you really don't want to remove the spoon from the bowl for some reason (werid), they do make wooden spoons for eating with. Korean wooden spoons. Easy to find on Amazon if you are interested.

But a character's race is actually important. Maybe less so in fantastic stories that couldn't have taken place on earth, but still. When you have a character who was white, then you have the same character be black in the reboot, but nothing else changes about the character, what you are saying is "the struggles that people of color face and the differences in culture they grow up with have absolutely no bearing on who they become" or worse, albeit more realistically "should have absolutely no bearing on who they become".
That's not a good message. When you simply make a white character black what you are really saying is "being black doesn't matter" And that's insulting. Being black shouldn't be being portrayed as a bad trait because it isn't--but it is a trait. In real life the differences in culture and perspective in society that come with race shape a person.
Obviously that shouldn't be the whole of the character--but it should be an aspect that matters.

Taking the bus is often cheaper and better for the environment. It's a good option--if you can get to the bus stop on time and the routes work well for you.
But yes--getting a car would be an option for an alternative way to get to work.

I feel the same way about characters of color. I mean, maybe its different for James Bond because part of his whole thing is being reinvented into a clearly different person with the same self destructive, alcoholic, womanizing tendencies. I certainly wouldn't think twice about a Doctor of color, as that seems like a reasonable change for that character. But generally speaking, I think we should making new stories and characters who are more diverse. By just making an existing character black what we are really saying is "being black isn't actually an important trait, this character is the same" and there HAS to be a less racist way to prevent characters of color from being stereotyped of that race.

I used to work 8-4 occasionally. I am certain it would be great if it was consistent. I work 8-5 now (I have an hour lunch break unpaid) and not getting of until 5 definitely doesn't afford a lot of time in the evening, especially with needing to get up early. Especially since I drive half an hour commute. But having a consistent sleep schedule and weekends off is a vast improvement over my last job.

Not really--if your city doesn't have the population to benefit from running buses that often, then it doesn't make sense to. Empty buses cost money and hurt the environment. If you know the bus only comes once an hour, then make sure you get to the stop on time. If that isn't realistic then look for an alternative way to get to work. If you have a large population, but not many people ride the bus, you may be able to get more buses/bus routes if you can convince enough people to start riding the bus. Beyond that, it's your responsibility to get to the bus on time. The only way the bus is at fault for you being late to work is if the bus was running late.

The only part of Titanic that gets me teary eyed isn't over the protagonists. Its where a mother who knows what's going on gently tucks her children into bed because she doesn't believe they would make it onto the lifeboats. And its heartbreaking because she is putting on a brave face to protect her children from fear, hopeful that they will sleep through drowning in the icy waters.
