Apparently, being different in one thing makes you better than others in general.

Because people always believe that they're doing the best for their children. Or that their parents raised them the best way they could.

We're 23, and we still go out to the park and play soccer/football, and play on the swings.
I think I'm still in my childhood.

There is no such thing as free education. Either way, they are going to be paying for university/college one-way or another, either for themselves or through taxes when they start working.

Why would he possibly be mad? It's a seven year old girl saying "Dear Soldier". What's wrong with that?

Honestly, no it isn't.
I dream of becoming the CIO of a major bank, or something along those lines. I'm reaching for the stars, and I'm not going to get there by sitting on my ass 3/4 of the time. I did that at a previous job for 8 months, but I wasn't sitting on my ass for 3/4 of the time. It was more like 4/4 of the time.
And when you're doing something like that, and not learning, once the culture of the company changes, you will very soon realise how dispensable you are when you are replaced by either a young "millennial" that is willing to work, or someone that has been working cultivating their knowledge through the years.
There will be many different opinions about this situation, but this is mine.
