I agree with the serration being individual diamonds. Since they are strong but brittle.

also remember that many rules were made to keep tradition on how to play it. Someone that can disregard the rules and make something good out of it can be considered creative, some of the best musicians broke the "rules" of music of their time, then were later considered amazing.
