I'm so glad this is from Singapore and this kind of mindset is starting. Living in a country with one of the most pressuring education systems, my years in secondary school were the worst years of my life, and I'm glad my juniors won't experience the same thing. You rock, Principal of this school.

from the language it's either from Malaysia or Indonesia, and although both countries speak their own first language, they all learn English. 'Top Secret' also sounds a lot cooler than the Malay/Bahasa words for it too lol

Ever since finding out about this a few years ago, I think of her everytime I feel super lonely. I can still change my circumstances and meet new people if the ones I already know won't pay attention to me, but she can't and I get sad thinking about it. from what I can remember us 9 year olds just thought of making it look like he killed himself, or just pretend she never saw Patrick that evening because she was out when he came home from work (like telling Sam the grocer that her husband hasn't come home yet and she wanted to cook him dinner) or because they usually eat out on Thursdays(?) she could meet up with a friend and pretend to ask for good places then when she returned home she can act all shocked

In high school?? I read Lamb To The Slaughter in primary school and I swear the entire class was messed up for like two weeks. I remember a few of us also came up with ideas on how Mary could have improved her plan..
