I didn't know it could cause more trouble than being a false pedantic--what happens?

"40" is Old Testament for "really long time" (40 days and 40 nights as the second example). It could be 6 days walk, which in a desert I imagine us still very long.

While I agree, the dinosaur metaphor reminds me of the resounding message a certain Jurassic film series taught me about trying to contain an apex predator.
Not sure if I want to think about how accurate this metaphor is.

It's tinnitus, a fairly normal occurrence in the population. It is not a hallucination, and it's really nothing to worry about unless it hurts or turns into different noises.

The real patch Adams has a bone to pick with the film for that exact reason. He thought they focused too much in the comedy than what his hospital did

The time stamp on the post is 9 minutes ago, yet your comment is time stamped an hour ago. An irrelevant observation but an interesting one all the same.

Can a very literate and educated person re: Lebron explain this to me a not literate person re: lebron?
I know who the tank man is and why he did. I just don't get what Lebron James has to do with anything.

I think it works in Alaska, just about everyone has a gun and is trained to use one. Maybe that's why we've never had a mass shooting, even among our incredibly high population of mental illness. No shooting even after that major earthquake in 2018.

I've whole heartedly supported this argument for years, but it just now occurred to me that if it's not a wage gap then it's an employment gap. Which affects wages albeit not in the traditionally acceptable debate format.
Workplace discrimination still exists, women choosing (I use this term loosely) low paying pink collar jobs is still a thing, and being qualified is a rabbit hole that attracts too many SJWs. There's also the matter about the whole non confrontational trait in women that prevents them from asking for better or higher pay (alleged)

Oldest of 8 (all from the same parents) Your cat analogy is good. My parents learned you should pay for what kids need, but maybe not everything they want. I ended up being the parent while mine worked overseas or two jobs. My parents are the reason people should be pre-approved to have children. All of us have some form of trauma, and an incredibly dark sense of humor to show for it.
I'm glad some people turn out fine, but most large families don't.
Either way, we're all fucked up now and our parents wonder why we don't want to come home for Christmas.

@guest_ I'm from around Anchorage. A bottle of olive oil averages around $11 ish dollars.
A good comparison off the top of my head is that in the lower 48 you can buy a rotisserie chicken for, like, $5? But in Anchorage it's around $9, and out in the bush/villages it's upwards of $20. For the same size chicken.
