I think you put it best, illjusthavewater. Even so, its incorrect to say effort can't equate to love because that only applies when the person you're interested in isn't actively interested in you. However, if that person IS interested in you, then your effort would be appreciated, and you would become more desirable in their eyes for trying so hard for them
