no its not. Planned obsolescence is planning for something to HAVE to be replaced. This isnt it being replaced, its faking fixing a problem with the code of the same product and because you dont need a new license for product you dont have to replace it you just update it which is legally distinct.
I hate these kind of people so much 11 comments

"Watts argued the statement "did not constitute a 'threat' within the language of the statute." On appeal, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia rejected this argument, finding that the statement violated the statute even if Watts had no intention of carrying out his threat, and affirmed the lower court's judgment."

"(c) Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."
thats the actual law word for word. No where within does it say anything about "credible."
the act of threatening another with injury no matter if possible or credible is illegal.

That wouldn't work out. There's not enough material to make that many electric vehicles and even just with the amount of electrics there are now the environment is being ass raped by the strip mines required to get it all. An equivalent amount of power would still be required and effectively the total emissions would be higher because of the that you lose power transferring it. The transport would still be fossil fuel generated just indirectly and, again, more total power would have to be generated to make it all work

The problem with that is the limits of the other options. electric cars cause strip mines for the materials and have awful longevity of power supply. You'd have to replace the bit a lot more often. The power also still has to be created somewhere which would most likely be by burning fossil fuels. Unless we found a better way of making electric cars AND completely switched over to thorium and wind/hydro it would still be a moot point

im not sure 2 counts as "a few" so ill add one myself.
the largest source of co2 emissions is transportation at around 29%but not by a large margin as its followed up by power generation at 28%

Can't punish them for it if you don't have a law saying you can't do it, which in turn would be "the government forcing them to put things in themselves"

The thing about that is that antivaxers are actively dangerous to everyone else. Not just some "oh their kid might die because of this." Someone else's kid might die from it. Other people's kids HAVE died from it.

That freedom only extends to just beyond the edge of child neglect which the vast majority of people would consider not vaccinating a child who could get said vaccination
